Primed to take risks, Balagan Theatre’s The Spinning unleashes a frenzied ride on Love's wild side. Blending together our common and dangerous concepts of caring for one another, this truly original musical whips us from the gentle caress of a lover to the stiff support of a collar. Two lovers exist in reality while Pain, Idolatry, Sex, Questions, and the Innocence of our unforgettable youth dance around them. Utilizing musical theatre, iambic pentameter, and S&M, this unconventional production is guaranteed to leave a mark.

"The Spinning is a fast and loose festival of bodies and ribald humor...a spectacle of sex, sin, and sadomasochism, all in the service of a basic tale about the primal power of love." Seattle Weekly Review by Richard Morin Friday, June 1, 2007 Read the review

"[B]oy meets girl, boy loses girl...girl chains boy up, interferes with his clothing, flogs him with two quirts, applies painful devices to sensitive parts of his person and (behind a yard of black cloth) pretends to fellate him." Seattle Pi Review by Joe Adcock Friday, June 1, 2007 Read the review

"Seattlest hopes one of Groll's gigantic pecs inspires your pending love-making to take a turn towards the dark side." Seattlest Review by Dan Gonsoriowski Friday, June 1, 2007 Read the review
