If you are interested in renting Balagan's space for an event, please copy the questions below and email them with your complete responses to Ellaina@BalaganTheatre.org.
Ellaina will respond within 2 business days to let you know she received your email, before submitting it to the Artistic Team for evaluation.
Please note:
Please leave an adequate amount of time for this process: it may take up to two weeks to process your request, and if it's a go, there will be details to work out, contracts to sign, etc, before you can get going. We will likely ask to see a script or other information about your event; to expedite the process, you may feel free to include some of this in advance in your email to Ellaina, but do not send electronic scripts or long documents that need to be printed out. You may mail them to us at 1433 12th Ave, Ste A1, Seattle, WA 98122, or wait for us to request them.
When renting Balagan's space, we require that you provide your own front of house staff, including box office (we recommend one Box Office Staff, one or two Ushers, and a floating House Manager), your technical team - whatever running crew, design team and builders, SM and ASM, etc, your event may need.
You must provide your own marketing, but we will give you guidelines as to how or whether Balagan's name and/or logo should appear or be credited. Do not create your marketing materials without a clear understanding of our guidelines and a signed contract specifying our agreement of dates, times, etc.
You may use Balagan's lighting and sound equipment, and will meet with Banton, the Technical Director, to cover the information and guidelines as necessary. If another show is also using the space, you may be restricted from moving lights or changing much about the space. Your set must be something you can strike after every performance.
Balagan's bar will be open during your show - we are not a rowdy public bar but rather are there to provide refreshments to your audience, and patrons are respectful of events going on in the same or adjacent room. We will provide our own Bar Manager.
Rental fees are based on a sliding scale. Money collected from the door is yours to keep; money collected at the bar, including tips, is Balagan's.
